Old Hollow Tree
Old Hollow Tree
This sculpture of an was inspired by the old weathered and decomposing trees you often see on a woodland walk. If it could talk, imagine the stories it tell of songbirds that nested in it’s branches or the furry critters it sheltered. This tree must be magical; just look at it. The following poem by the artist, Susan Lackey, was inspired by this artwork.
There’s a rotting old tree that’s broken and hollow,
And covered with moss. I hear from a swallow
Many birds nested here, in the top of that tree.
Still strong it stands, you must agree.
A little twisted and worn, he’s still a beaut.
And a mystery held tight, right down to his root.
The remaining bark is all over acid green.
Pink leaves on limbs. Oh what a scene!
6” square base and 12” tall

The Remnants Collection
These paintings either the first ones or last ones of a variety of collections. Art Exhibitions tend to contain artwork from a single collection. When there are only a few paintings remaining in a collection, it’s difficult to show them with others. Sometimes a collection is started and after just a few paintings, the artist stops the series for various reasons. These also become difficult to show with others. Because these are some of the artist’s favorites, they are presented here in a patchwork collection of remnants.
