Helping Hands
Helping Hands
This painting was inspired by the remains of high cliff dwellings built by the indigenous peoples living in what is now southwestern United States. The artist’s intention was to capture the strength, ability, tenacity and cooperation involved in building anything meaningful. By looking closely, you might see the many shapes and sizes of the hands involved. The following poem by the artist, Susan Lackey, was inspired by this artwork.
Big home to build, up on that hill.
So safe and dry, we’ll be up high.
On stone at a time will be just fine.
One hand plus more will make work soar.

The Nature’s Resonance Collection
These paintings were inspired by the visual features, the sound, and the movement that resonates in nature’s mountains, hills, and woodland walks. The colors, shapes, textures, and light of natural settings have been creatively abstracted to suggest the rhythms, the sounds, the movement that are seen and heard.
